Major change is underway for Australia’s home care sector. The last few months alone has seen the introduction of a Code of Conduct for workers, the expansion of the Serious Incident Response Scheme to include the home care sector and a cap placed on both care management and package management fees in the Home Care Packages program.
Even bigger changes are coming. There will be a new Aged Care Act – and from July 2024 – a new regulatory framework, and a streamlined in-home care program. The Aged Care Quality Standards are also being revised. And while consultation continues this month, the slated start of the transition to this new in-home program – June 2023 – is only months away.
