December 2, 2021 @ 1:49 am - 2:04 am

Do you have a process for identifying and managing consumers who are deemed at high risk as per legislative requirements in home care?

In September 2020, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission issued guidance regarding vulnerable consumers who may at risk. This requires providers to have specific measures in place to identify and monitor these vulnerable consumers.

Here’s a quick overview of just some of what’s covered on this webinar:

✔  Internal risk factors: age, comorbidities, mental health, impairments etc

✔  External risk factors: social networks, dependency on care providers, housing, location etc

✔  Screening for indicators and ‘Red Flags’ that could indicate suspicion of abuse or neglect.

✔  Clinical assessment for vulnerable consumers

✔  Intolerable risk and assessment of decision-making capability

✔  Perpetrator and relationship risk factors

✔  Training staff to identify, report and document potential abuse or neglect

✔  Strategies for monitoring  vulnerable consumers

✔  Policies for recruitment, selection and checking of staff
