Hospital celebrates fundraiser boost
The latest Giving Day fundraiser by the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation has exceeded its fundraising goal by $60,000.
The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation hosted its 5th annual Giving Day last week, exceeding its initial goal of $100,000 and raising $160,000 to put towards funding essential care, equipment and research outside of public funding.
Funds raised through the Giving Day were previously put towards the establishment of Charlie’s Village.
Charlie’s Village is designed to mimic a small-town main street, featuring a post office, café, bakery, hair salon, general store, hotel and bus stop.

The familiar scene aims to help dementia patients feel grounded and at ease while encouraging mobility and independence in an environment that reduces anxiety and confusion and sparks memories.
Staff have said that since the village was opened in 2023, they have seen remarkable improvements in patient wellbeing.
The village is the first-of-its-kind for Australia and was funded entirely through community donations from previous Giving Day’s.
