Darling honoured for community advocacy
My Guardian is honouring aged care advocate Gwenda Darling this week as part of celebrations to mark a decade of providing community care.
Aged care advocate and Aged Care Council of Elders member Gwenda Darling is being honoured by My Guardian for her dedication to building a more inclusive community and her instrumental work in shaping health care practices.
She will be presented with the Community Champion Award at the aged care and disability services provider’s 10th anniversary celebration on Friday.
There will be 400 community leaders, healthcare professionals, aged care workers, disability advocates, government representatives and industry partners in attendance, including New South Wales Premier Chris Minns.
My Guardian founder and chief executive officer Jad Haber said they were proud to have supported 10,000 Australian families with 12 million hours of care over the past decade, staying steadfast in their mission to improve the care experience of Australians.

“As we look ahead to the next 10 years, we hope to expand our impact across the country and support more Australians who need and deserve quality health care, raise awareness about the importance of accessibility in our society and find work opportunities for Australians living with disabilities,” he added.
Professor Les Bokey will also be honoured at the celebratory dinner, receiving a lifetime achievement award for his pioneering role in establishing surgical robotics and healthcare automation.
My Guardian will also be formalising two strategic partnerships on the night, one with the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and the other with the Heart Research Institute.
Mr Haber said the strategic partnerships represent My Guardian’s commitment to evidence-based care and enable them to continue being at the forefront of translating medical breakthroughs into real-world benefits.
