Bateman’s Bay welcomes Seniors Wellness Hub
South Coast residing seniors can enjoy the opportunity to meet new friends and engage in safe, supervised exercise following the opening of the Uniting NSW.ACT Seniors Wellness Hub.

Uniting NSW.ACT opened a new Seniors Wellness Hub in Bateman’s Bay on this week, with head of seniors services on South Coast Fiona Burns saying it has been exciting to expand on the home and community care offerings available in the region.
The opening celebrations on Tuesday included a free morning tea, a health clinic with blood pressure and blood sugar testing, a falls prevention workshop and staff available to answer questions about available services.
“Too many people find it difficult to find reliable, timely information on the range of support and services available to help support older people so they can age in place,” said Ms Burns.

“Our great team in the Illawarra and Far South Coast can answer questions and help you navigate the system so you can access the services you need to safely stay at home and live their best life possible.
“There are big changes to at-home care starting in July this year, and we can explain how this will affect existing or future at-home packages,” she said.
The Hub is also designed as a place where older people can visit and enjoy good company.
Ms Burns said the Uniting NSW.ACT team would also be talking with community members about what group activities they’d like on offer, such as seniors exercise classes or excursions.
“Uniting Illawarra and Far South Coast has been proudly supporting older people in the local community for more than 15 years. We look forward to this new era of improving access to in-home care to enable older Australians to stay at home as they age,” she said.
