Aged care workers can access free courses

Aged care workers can access several free training courses, including short online courses on culturally appropriate dementia care.

Medical Students Studying

The Department of Health and Aged Care has reminded providers of free training courses available for anyone working in aged care this month, with topics including:

  • quality standards and how to apply them
  • dementia care
  • food and nutrition in aged care homes
  • palliative care education
  • trauma-informed care.

There is also a series of free online course provided through the Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra – partners in culturally appropriate care NSW/ACT – that will provide information and tools to improve inclusion of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds living with dementia.

Courses include:

  • culturally inclusive service delivery
  • working with new and emerging communities
  • working with a diverse workforce
  • culture and dementia
  • culture and trauma informed care.
