St Basil’s expands ACT home care
Culturally informed home care for the Greek-Australian community will soon be more accessible with St Basil’s NSW/ACT expanding its services in Canberra.

With wait times in Canberra reaching up to 18 months, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia has partnered with not-for-profit provider St Basil’s NSW/ACT to expand home care service Euphoria home in the Australian Capital Territory to include personal care, nursing, transportation, respite care, and social support.
The expansion also includes the introduction of the Commonwealth Home Support Program, providing essential transportation services to attend medical appointments, shopping and social events.

St Basil’s NSW/ACT chief executive officer Diana Horvatovic said the aged care sector faced significant challenges and long waitlists leaving many older people without support.
“With a 65-year legacy in aged care, St. Basil’s NSW/ACT is proud to be the only provider in the ACT offering culturally informed care for the Greek-Australian community. Our commitment is to ensure all seniors have access to high-quality home care, whether through government-funded programs or flexible private care options,” she said.
Over the last few years St Basil’s has also achieved full compliance with all 42 aged care quality standards for two consecutive years, and general manager of community services ACT Cerello Silang said they were excited to expand Euphoria home care.
“At our core, we’re all about supporting seniors to live life on their terms, with care that feels like family. Broadening our services means we can reach more people who need that extra support to stay independent, comfortable, and connected in their own homes,” he said.
