Infinite Care Cornubia residents receive royal recognition

After fleeing persecution in post-war Europe, John and Leni made a new home for themselves in Australia, never expecting that one day the King himself would write to them.

Two residents at Infinite Care Cornubia were awestruck upon receiving an unexpected congratulatory message from His Majesty the King, wishing them well on their 72nd anniversary of marriage, which took place on 22 December.

John Endor and wife Leni fled persecution under Stalin and Hitler, arriving to Australia as refugees.

“We were nobodies,” John said, “but Australia took us in, and we found refuge and the opportunity to rebuild our lives.”

Despite these challenges, John said through mutual respect, shared hope and living by the principles of their faith, reaching 72 years together came naturally.

The royal recognition of the anniversary was the result of dedicated efforts by the onsite Lifestyle team, who reached out to authorities to highlight the significance of John and Leni’s achievement.

John expressed gratitude to the Lifestyle team for their efforts in making the day so memorable.

“I can’t get my head around the fact that the team brought this all together. It’s unbelievable… I still think I will wake up from this dream,” he said.
