Govt releases assistive tech, home mods list
The Department of Health has outlined the home modifications, products and equipment available through under the incoming support scheme.

In the final weeks of 2024, the Federal Government released the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications List for the scheme under incoming Support at Home program.
The 28-page document is a definitive list of the products, home modifications and equipment participants of the Assistive Technology and Home Modificationsthe – AT-HM – scheme will be able to access from 1 July 2025.
Participants may use their AT-HM Scheme funding on items listed under “Inclusions” where a need has been assessed and documented in their support plan.
Simple, low-cost daily living products that require no prescription or customisation are labelled on the list as low risk. Anything listed as “under advice” on the list are low risk items that require professional advice to guarantee they are selected, installed or used effectively. Prescribed items are those that require a prescription from a qualified health professional.
Inclusions include:
- managing body functions
- self-care
- mobility
- domestic life
- communication and information management.
Some things on the list, however, are exclusions and “currently funded by others” such as adhesive solvents and sealing materials in skincare, wigs and dentures in prostheses and oxygen units and aspirators in respiration to name a few.
Out of scope for participants include items such as secondary mobility products and assistive technology for sport or recreation that are considered usual household expenses or discretionary expenses.
