Large retirement living provider Aveo has published a digital guide that aims to give retirees all the information they need to make decisions about changing their living situation.

The Retirement Living Guide features articles, videos and downloadable resources that answer common questions on downsizing and retirement living and offer advice for those considering a move to a retirement village.

Aveo has 10,000 residents across more than 70 retirement villages in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, according to its website.

The free guide is an outcome of the Aveo’s customer innovation and service excellence strategy, said Aveo head of marketing and communications Bridgid Allsopp.

“With decades of experience within the Aveo team and in partnership with some of Australia’s best retirement and downsizing experts, we have created this useful resource to empower retirees and their loved ones to be able to make informed choices,” Ms Allsopp said.

The guide includes insights from experts such Aged Care Gurus director Rachel Lane, who clarifies the difference between aged care and retirement living and advises on how to find a community that matches a retiree’s needs and lifestyle.

“It’s important to visit several villages to find the one that’s right for you,” Ms Lane said. “Get the vibe of a community by doing the formal tour, then go back for the social events, especially happy hour,” she recommends.

Other contributors include Task Tamers director Suzie Dash, Lifepath Financial Planning senior financial advisor Brad Monk and DSL Law principle Danielle Lim.

Other topics in the online Retirement Living Guide include making sense of costs and contracts, care and support options and how to transition to a new home.
