HCP case managers wanted for nutrition survey

The Flinders University study aims to maximise the health and nutrition of home care recipients.

People receiving aged care only get about a quarter of the funding available to NDIS participants, an analysis by industry peak LASA shows.

Flinders University researchers are seeking case managers to survey for a project that aims to maximise the health and nutrition of older people receiving home care services.

The study is part of Nutrition For Ageing In Place project, which is investigating the nutritional status, nutritional intake and health outcomes of Home Care Package recipients.

The 15-20-minute survey explores the perspectives of case managers and the HCP services provided.

“We have investigated the views of recipients and are currently seeking to recruit HCP case managers to interview them about how they prioritise allocation of funds and about their attitudes and knowledge related to food and nutrition services,” principal investigator Dr Alison Yaxley told Community Care Review

The survey is open to adults who are competent in English and currently employed as a case manager for a Home Care Package provider.

However, individual responses will remain confidential and not shared with anyone.

“Case managers should feel free to be open without concern that responses will return to their employers,” said Dr Yaxley, a senior lecturer in nutrition and dietetics at Flinders University.

“We are also not asking who the case managers work for, so providers will not be identified.”

The current phase of this survey closes 30 November 2024. For more information email Alison at alison.yaxley@flinders.edu.au
