Aveo sells SA retirement villages
The national provider’s 13 sites across Adelaide have been picked up by Resthaven and Eldercare.
Aged care providers Resthaven and Eldercare have acquired Aveo’s South Australian retirement living portfolio.
Aveo is the operator of 13 retirement villages across the state’s captial Adelaide, comprising of a total of 952 independent living units and 81serviced apartments. It also operates home care services in the across the city.
In a statement released in response to questions from Community Care Review, Aveo CEO Tony Randello said: “The planned transition allows Aveo to simplify and refine its portfolio of well-connected communities in metropolitan areas along the eastern coast of Australia.”
Aveo is currently engaging with its workers and residents about the change of ownership of its villages. “Aveo takes its obligations to the residents living in their communities very seriously,” Mr Randello said. “The terms of current residents’ contracts will not change and will continue to be honoured by Resthaven and Eldercare.”
Resthaven CEO Darren Birbeck said the acquisition will increase the provider’s retirement living portfolio substantially. “The acquisition complements Resthaven’s strategy of planned and considered growth and includes the transfer of approximately 90 home care recipients.”
Resthaven has acquired 11 villages from Aveo:
- Crestview in Hillcrest
- Glynde Lodge in Glynde
- Gulf Point in North Haven
- Leabrook Lodge in Rostrevor
- Leisure Court in Fulham Gardens
- Manor Gardens in Salisbury East
- Melrose Park in Melrose Park
- Riverview in Elizabeth Vale
- The Haven in North Haven
- The Oaks in Fulham
- Westport in Queenstown.
Eldercare has acquired two villages:
- Carisfield in Seaton
- The Braes in Reynella East.
“With the addition of Carisfield in Seaton and The Braes in Reynella, Eldercare’s retirement living portfolio will expand in two new areas that are located close to existing Eldercare residential aged care homes,” chief executive Jane Pickering said.
She added: “This acquisition gives certainty to Aveo residents and staff who will be welcomed to Eldercare and Resthaven respectively.”
Both providers will work with Aveo over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition of residents, clients and staff ahead of settlement in November. During that time, Resthaven and Eldercare will work together to answer any questions Aveo staff and residents may have about the transfer of ownership.
The changeover will begin immediately. “Aveo will work closely with Resthaven and Eldercare to ensure a smooth transition,” Mr Randello said, “and it remains committed to supporting residents and employees during this time.”
