State series keeps sector informed on reform
ACCPA’s state conferences have consistently updated the sector on reform as it progresses, CEO Tom Symondson tells AAA.
The provider peak body’s state conferences have played a consistent role in keeping providers up to date with the reform process and its progress, chief Tom Symondson tells Community Care Review.
Aged & Community Care Providers Association has held six state events in capital cities as part of its 2024 conference program starting in early March in Hobart and concluding in Sydney in late June.
While there have been similar agendas at each event, as things have moved on so have the updates, Mr Symondson told CCR on the sidelines of the Sydney event, which took place at the Hilton Hotel on 19-21 June.
“We’ve been able to communicate the reform process as it happens,” Mr Symondson said. “These conferences have enabled providers to have the absolute up-to-date information on where things are at.”
The events have also demonstrated a new positivity about the future of the sector, he said. “For so many years, this has not been a sector where people have felt optimistic, where people have felt like change is coming. But at the moment, that is exactly what it feels like.”
The conferences have also highlighted that aged care stakeholders want these kinds of face-to-face learning engagements, said Mr Symondson – who confirmed the program would continue in 2025.
