Juniper increases home care reach

The WA not-for-profit provider is working with regional communities to ensure a smooth transition of services.

Western Australia-based aged care provider Juniper has extended its in-home services to the Great Southern and Goldfields regions of the state.

As of 1 July, Commonwealth Home Support Program clients receiving home care from the WA Country Health Service have been able to choose Juniper to deliver their CHSP services.

“This opportunity to provide home care in the Great Southern and Goldfields regions means we can support older people to continue living close to family and friends and within their community they love,” Juniper CEO Russell Bricknell said.

The tie to community is particularly strong in regional areas, added Mr Bricknell. “It’s important to so many people that they can keep living well in their own home, connected to the place, people and all their passions they’ve pursued all their life.”

Juniper is working closely with communities in and around Katanning, Woodanilling, Moojebing, Broomehill, Kojonup, Boscabel, Muradup, Tambellup, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Hopetoun, and Bremer Bay to ensure a smooth transition of services.

To ensure the continuity of services, the not-for-profit provider has also offered employment to support workers who provide services to WACHS customers.

Following Juniper team visits to Katanning, Hopetoun, and Kojonup almost all WACHS staff from those areas have joined Juniper, Mr Bricknell said. “We’ve already experienced a warm welcome and enthusiasm from both former WACHS customers and staff to join Juniper.”

Further visits to local shires will occur in the coming months. “As we learn more about the needs of each community, we hope to offer further employment opportunities and services,” Mr Bricknell said.

Allocated funding allows providers such as Juniper to offer services to a certain number of CHSP customers. Once Juniper starts providing services to 250-or-so existing CHSP clients in the Great Southern and Goldfields regions, it will assess if it has funding opportunity to take on more customers.

For individuals with greater or more complex care needs in the Gold Southern and Goldfields regions, Juniper will also be able to provide services to customers with a Home Care Package.

“We are really excited about being able to offer Home Care Package services,” Mr Bricknell said. “We already service thousands of Home Care Package customers … so we can’t wait to bring that expertise, care and compassion to Great Southern and Goldfields customers.”
