South Australian aged care and retirement living provider Resthaven is to separate its services in the Fleurieu Peninsula region of the state.

“Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills & Fleurieu Community Services is one of Resthaven’s largest, and with continued growth, we have decided to divide it into two separate services,” said executive manager community services Mel Ottaway.

With five offices – in Murray Bridge, Strathalbyn, Goolwa, Port Elliot and Victor Harbor – Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills & Fleurieu covers a large geographical area.

“The team has done an amazing job supporting clients across the region,” said Ms Ottaway. “However, it is now time to create two regional services: Resthaven Fleurieu Community Services, and Resthaven Murray Mallee Hills Community Services.”

Kimberley Lord has been appointed the new manager of the Murray Mallee Hills branch, and Tanya Boakes is the new manager at the Fleurieu site.

Both Ms Lord and Ms Boakes have held management roles at Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills & Fleurieu Community Services for several years. “We are excited for this new chapter in Resthaven’s community services and wish Tanya and Kimberly well in their new roles,” said Ms Ottaway.

Resthaven Murray Mallee Hills Community Services will continue to operate out of a custom-built office in Murray Bridge adjacent to Resthaven’s residential aged care home.

Strathalbyn will become home to the Resthaven Fleurieu Community Services main office, with outreach sites located in Goolwa, Port Elliot, and Victor Harbor.

“The sites will continue to work closely together to deliver outstanding care and services to older people through the regions,” said Ms Ottaway.

To ensure minimal impact on the older people who are supported by Resthaven, the organisation is planning a gradual division of its services, aiming to have operations fully separated by 1 July 2024.
