Care Connect appoints new CEO
Lynda Chalmers has more than 30 years’ experience in the health and aged care sectors.
Not for profit in-home care provider Care Connect has announced Lynda Chalmers as its new chief executive officer.
With more than 30 years’ experience in health, community, disability and aged care – in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors – Ms Chalmers has a proven track record in operational transformation and program delivery.
“Lynda is an engaging and compassionate leader who deeply understands the health and care sectors and their challenges,” said Care Connect board chair Justine Heath. “She is uniquely qualified and experienced to lead Care Connect during this time of sector reform and change. Her ability to establish connections and drive improvement and transformation, whilst inspiring a values-driven and diverse culture, will ensure that people remain at the heart of everything we do.”
Ms Chalmers’ own personal experiences navigating the healthcare delivery system led her to pursue an early career in community nursing. Since then, notable roles have included aged care strategy and transformation lead, and national manager of home care and seniors living, at Mercy Health; and business manager home care for Royal Freemasons.
Of her new appointment, Ms Chalmers said: “Care Connect’s strong reputation for delivering exceptional in-home care services and supports attracted me to seek out this opportunity. I am excited by the many possibilities for positive change in the care sector and am committed to working closely with the experienced team at Care Connect to ensure that we continue to be a voice for our communities, and that our staff and the people that entrust us with their care remain supported and connected.”
Ms Chalmers succeeds Paul Ostrowski who took up the CEO post at Latrobe Community Health Service late last year after more than 13 years at Care Connect.
Over that time, Mr Ostrowski’s leadership has been instrumental in preparing Care Connect for a strong future, said Ms Heath. “His work will have a far-reaching impact on the organisation as well as the lives of many Australians for whom care management is key to their quality of care and quality of life.”
One of Australia’s largest not-for-profit in-home care providers, Care Connect has supported more than 85,000 older Australians in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria for the past three decades.
