Recruitment giant Adecco is adding the broader healthcare sector to its list of industries in response to growing workforce shortages.

Recruitment giant Adecco is adding the broader healthcare sector to its list of industries in response to growing workforce shortages.

It plans to develop Australian-first solutions with a particular focus on bringing overseas talent to Australia. The key target occupation will be registered nurses, but the plans also include recruiting aged care staff, said Nicholas Lee – senior vice president country president Adecco Australia & NZ.

“It’s time for the nursing and aged care industry to scale up with overseas trained nurses and care workers and our new solution will make this process more seamless and efficient,” Mr Lee told Community Care Review.

The solutions will target the longer-term sustainability of the workforce and sectors via a people-first approach that focuses on providing best-in-class training programs and end-to-end candidate care, he said.

“Our strategy is data-driven and will strategically place overseas-trained nurses where they’re needed most, whilst cultivating an environment where healthcare professionals and providers thrive together.”

Adecco is looking for established businesses looking to exit or scale up their health and aged care recruitment business to partner with. Among the challenges to overcome is the competition with markets such as Canada, United States and the United Kingdom, Mr Lee said.

“In the war on talent, Australia needs a quantum leap, fast. Otherwise, we risk a collapse of the health and aged care sector.”
