National Seniors Australia appoints Grice as CEO

National Seniors Australia has announced the appointment of chief operating officer Chris Grice as its new chief executive officer.

Mr Grice – who has been with the organisation for almost 12 years – was appointed COO in February this year around the same time as Professor John McCallum left the organisation after four years as CEO.

NSA chairman Ross Glossop said Mr Grice has been integral to the work the board has been doing on a new strategic direction, which has a greater emphasis on federal and state government relations, industry alliances and community partnerships.

“Chris brings to the position of CEO a unique and deep understanding of all aspects of NSA from our research and advocacy work to our commercial products and services to fund this work, duly gained during 12 years of dedicated service in roles as membership and insurance manager, general manager and chief operating officer.”

Mr Glossop also noted Mr Grice’s strong connections to NSA’s branch community through attendance at meetings, forums, and events across Australia and his successful track record of political influence and advocacy, strategic leadership, operational excellence and astute financial acumen.

Mr Grice said he was deeply honoured to lead a team who believed in the work the organisation does.

“Older Australians face a myriad of issues including ageism, housing suitability and affordability as well as concerns about being able to support the next generation. These challenges can be addressed only if parliamentarians, governments, industry, and the broader community work together,” he said.

In addition to promoting the needs of older Australians, Mr Grice enjoys being able to promote the positive physical, emotional, and economic contributions older Australians make to the community.

“Whether it be through caring, volunteering or working – a life of learning, experience, and wisdom matters. It should be acknowledged and celebrated,” he said.
