A new series of e-learning modules have been developed for aged care workers.
Funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care and designed by the University of Tasmania’s Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, the Equip Aged Care Learning Packages are aimed at anyone involved in the aged care sector including nurses, personal care workers, allied health professionals, volunteers, and families.
The free modules – which have been endorsed by an expert advisory group – contain introductory information for those new to the industry as well as refresher-level content for those familiar with the aged care sector.
Each of the 14 e-learning modules focuses on contemporary aged care topics, including:
- the role of nurses, personal care workers, and allied health professionals
- the Aged Care Quality Standards
- prevention of falls
- wound management and pressure injury prevention
- trauma-informed care
- cross-cultural awareness.
Each module – which can be accessed from computers and mobile devices at any time and in any order – takes around 10 minutes to complete.
A downloadable certificate of completion is available for each module, with an additional certificate available on completion of all 14 modules.
Once a module has been completed, participants are encouraged to continue their learning with additional resources, which providers are invited to share across their organisations.
