South Australian retirement living and home care provider ECH has appointed Alan Johncock as its new head of property and retirement living.

Mr Johncock joins ECH – which stands for Enabling Confidence at Home – after four years as executive general manager with aged care and independent living provider Blue Cross.

During his time at Blue Cross, Mr Johncock oversaw property management, property assets, acquisitions, capital works and leasing within the independent living and aged care communities.

Before Blue Cross, Mr Johncock spent eight years at ASX-listed property and development and funds management company Charter Hall as national manager of operations.

His new role at ECH will see Mr Johncock steer the organisation through its five-year strategic plan which centres on building and developing homes and living hubs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alan with his wide array of skills and proven experience adding further strength to the existing leadership team to collaboratively work to deliver ECH’s FY24-28 organisational and property strategy,” said ECH chief executive Claire Scapinello in a statement.

“Alan’s knowledge and thought leadership will guide and support ECH as we continue to build strong communities where people feel they belong and can live their life well,” she added.

Mr Johncock said it was a privilege to join the ECH team. “I look forward to being part of an organisation with such a strong legacy of supporting South Australians for so many years. It is my absolute privilege to join the team and to continue the journey begun by others as I focus on developing the future of retirement living.”
