Aged care and retirement village operator Resthaven has acquired a portfolio of retirement living villages from ACH Group.
The acquisition – which includes 123 units across 12 sites – increases the South Australian not-for-profit provider’s retirement living footprint by 40 per cent, adding to its service options for older people.
“This group of villages complements Resthaven’s service areas and supports our strategic objectives in relation to planned and considered growth and expansion of retirement living,” said Resthaven CEO Darren Birbeck in a statement.
“With opportunities to provide affordable housing options, it further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to older people in South Australia,” he said.
Resthaven supports more than 14,000 older people living in metropolitan Adelaide and regional SA through in-home care and support services, allied health and enablement programs, retirement living, respite for carers and residential aged care at 12 locations.
Resthaven senior management will meet with its new residents prior to taking ownership. Settlement is planned to take place on 1 February 2023 – “and we welcome them to Resthaven,” said Mr Birbeck.
In the same statement, ACH Group CEO Frank Weits said the decision to sell the retirement living locations was in line with the company’s strategic vision of creating connected communities, “which focuses on geographic areas where we can support residents and customers with multiple services.”
He added: “The decision has been carefully considered to ensure that Resthaven is a good fit for the villages and residents.”
Mr Weits said retirement living will remain a key service offering for ACH Group along with home care, health and wellbeing, social, and residential care. “We look forward to continuing to support the residents who are living in more than 580 ACH Group retirement living units across metropolitan Adelaide.”
