New chairman starts at RSL LifeCare
RSL LifeCare has appointed corporate lawyer Ewen Crouch as chairman.
Aged care provider and veteran services organisation RSL LifeCare continues its leadership renewal with the appointment of corporate lawyer and experienced governance officer Ewen Crouch as chairman.
Mr Crouch is a former partner and chairman of international law firm Allens. His current positions include chairman of Corporate Travel Management and AnteoTech, non-executive director of BlueScope Steel and board member of Jawun – where corporate, government and Indigenous leaders come together to share their skills and experiences to create change.
His previous positions include non-executive director of Westpac Banking Corporation from 2013 to 2019, director of Mission Australia from 1995 to 2016, including seven years as chairman, and director of Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 2009 to 2020. He is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
It’s the second leadership announcement in less than two months after the New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory provider welcomed Janet Muir as chief executive officer in September.
In announcing Mr Crouch’s appointment, RSL LifeCare interim chair Sangeeta Venkatesan said the organisation was thrilled to have his skills and experience on the board.
“The extensive governance experience Mr Crouch brings to RSL LifeCare is invaluable as we focus on the wellbeing of our veterans and creating connected, supportive and vibrant communities,” Ms Venkatesan said in a statement.
Mr Crouch said “it is a privilege to be invited to chair this organisation with its deep 110-year history in assisting veterans and to lead the governance of such an important contributor in the vital aged care sector.”
He commenced the role on 28 October, replacing Ms Venkatesa, who remains on the board as non-executive director.
