Charter frames ACCPA’s values and vision

Provider peak body ACCPA launched its members’ charter at its national conference this week.

Peak body Aged & Community Care Providers Association has enshrined the values underpinning its vision with the signing of a members’ charter.

Launching the document at ACCPA’s inaugural national conference in Adelaide Wednesday, new CEO Tom Symondson said: “The purpose of this charter is really to put into practice the promise that we as ACCPA make to all of you as members of our association.”

The charter outlines what ACCPA and its members value:

  • the rights of older Australians their needs and preferences are at the centre of service delivery
  • offering care and services that offer the best outcomes of service delivery
  • the trust that is put in us by Australians to deliver care and services
  • a shared ambition for continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence so that aged care services are the best that they can be
  • having robust and sustainable aged care services, resourced and enabled to provide high quality care and support now and into the future.

It also describes to the sector the basis on which the association will operate.

Furthermore, the document maps the services and support that it offers to its 11,000 members across the aged care sector to enable progress towards its vision: “to ensure a high-performing, trusted and sustainable aged care sector, so that older Australians can live their best lives.”

“It demonstrates how and why we are going to do what we’re going to do which is rebuild that trust in our sector and make sure that everybody knows what we stand for and why it’s important,” Mr Symondson told delegates at the Adelaide Convention Centre, located on the land of the Kaurna nation.

Importantly, added Mr Symondson, the charter enshrines “the promise that we and you as the sector make to the Australian community, and in particular, the older Australians that we are here to serve and support.”
