In-home health and aged care provider Silver Chain Group has announced a new partnership with property group Ingenia Communities that aims to help support more seniors to live independently at home.
Ingenia Communities, an ASX-listed group that develops and operates seniors lifestyle and holiday communities, has assigned Silver Chain the preferred provider of its recently-launched Ingenia Connect program.
The initiative connects residents to services and support to help extend independent living. The announcement follows seven successful pilots – three in regional WA, two in regional Victoria and two in metropolitan Melbourne, said Silver Chain executive director Carolyn Bell.
“Different communities have different needs – while some are very focused on falls prevention, others care about understanding how to be good neighbours for someone who may have dementia,” Ms Bell said.
“By working closely with Ingenia Communities and the local residents we are hoping to help people form a different view of ‘care’ – one that’s about being proactive, about making life a little easier and extending their independence for as long as possible.”
Ms Bell says the two organisations share similar values. “We’ve already seen significant benefits from the conversations we’ve had with residents at our pilot communities and can customise their care to best suit their health and wellbeing goals.”
Ingenia Connect sought to build relationships with local health and community services to tailor support and remove the need for residents or their families to find services, said Madonna Jackson, Ingenia Communities portfolio manager Ingenia Gardens and Care.
“Older Australians often feel trepidation and fear when it comes to the idea of ‘care’, and by addressing health and ageing sooner, we can actually empower residents to remain independent and delay the decline in health that often leads to higher care.”
