The Additional Carers Respite Funding 2021- 2022 grant is valued at $130,000 and will allow Benetas to offer a further 1,300 hours of respite to support 65 approved carers across Victoria.
The Victorian Government is providing this funding as part of a four-year commitment from 2019-20 to 2022-23, valued at $49.5 million.
The aged care service provider was chosen out of 81 applicants to be the best fit to expand this service for older Victorians and provide respite for their carers.
Benetas will be using this grant to offer greater respite options, including day programs, overnight or short-term respite, inside a residential home or in-home respite.

Carers are often spouses, adult children, siblings or other family members, and respite will allow them to take a break, knowing that their loved one is still well cared for
Benetas CEO Sandra Hills said respite is important.
“Respite is as much about the carer as it is about the care of a loved one,” she said in a statement.
”For Benetas to be in a position to support more families, and to do so via a range of settings, will actually make a real difference to many people’s lives.”
Benetas onsite respite is available across Victoria in Williamstown, Frankston, Glenroy, Springvale and Sunshine.
