Over the last 20 yeas Ms Buckley has overseen the growth of the provider from 100 to 48,000 clients and kept it in good financial health despite a turbulent past few years that have included a royal commission and a global pandemic.

Ms Buckle said her time with Feros Care had been “quite the journey”.

“When I started at the organisation, the financial situation was so dire that I couldn’t even buy a computer, but today we employ 1,000 staff, turn over nearly $100m annually, and have become a respected partner for government,” she said in a statement.

An accountant by training, Ms said Feros Care’s success was about more than numbers.

“I take pride in knowing that we have emboldened our clients to live vibrant, healthy, independent and connected lives,” she said.

Chair Colin McJannett said Ms Buckley had made a significant leadership contribution to the aged care sector in Australia via her contribution to the boards of ACSA and the ACIITC, as well as her contribution to the royal commission, and she would continue to do so even as she stepped away as CEO.

Ms Buckley’s experience in strategy, innovation and service transformation all placed her well for an ongoing contribution.

“I thank her dearly for her substantial contribution – she leaves us in good shape and ready for the next era,” he said.

The Feros Care Board will begin recruiting for a replacement next week.
