Consumer-friendly videos demystify home care

Catholic Healthcare has released a suite of videos seeking to demystify home care packages for clients and their carers.
The five videos, available on the provider’s YouTube page, are designed to help customers navigate the system and get the most out their package.
The videos cover what a home care package is; how funds can be used to access services and connect with the community; and even how a home care package can be used to celebrate and prepare for a special event with family and friends.
“The videos focus on explaining what a home care package is, the benefits and services available with home care packages, and how you can access your package for day-to-day living support, clinical services, health and wellness programs, connecting with community and pastoral care,” Vanessa Zamprogno, head of sales and customer experience, home and community services told Community Care Review.
The material was developed in response to client feedback, Ms Zamprogno said.
“The Catholic Healthcare home care team recently held a customer advisory panel to gain a deeper understanding of our clients’ journey as well as how we can improve our service delivery and support to clients,” she said.
“We invited a cross-section of home care clients to meet with us to explore factors that are really important in selecting a quality home care provider, what is working well and how we can improve.”
One of the key take-aways, she says, was the need to communicate in a simple and direct way, making home care packages easy to understand and encouraging more people to register for support.
Ms Zamprogno says feedback from clients clearly indicated that there’s a need a need to provide consumer-friendly communications and information about home care.
“Consistent communications on the benefits and services of a home care package can help ensure clients make the most of their package, supporting seniors to continue to live independently at home for longer,” she said.
Catholic Healthcare will hold additional customer advisory panel sessions across the Sydney and NSW regional areas this year.
