Not-for-profit develops NDIS training resource for providers
A new disability provider training program will help small to medium disability service providers across Australia maximise opportunities from the NDIS.
A new disability provider training program will help small to medium disability service providers across Australia maximise opportunities from the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The interactive program NDIS Success, developed by social enterprise Community Business Bureau, offers disability service providers direct access to industry experts, who will teach them the steps required to succeed.
CBB says the program will combine self-paced learning with interactive webinars and peer networking, allowing participants to get involved at a time that suits them.
It targets senior managers and staff that are responsible for operations, HR, marketing and finance within small to medium sized organisations.
CBB is working with regional and remote communities and other organisations to deliver better and more sustainable services.
Challenges of NDIS
Jane Arnott, CBB General Manager of Consulting and Business Services, says many of Australia’s registered service providers feel challenged by doing business under the NDIS.
“They want to know what resources should be in place, how to develop effective marketing strategies, and what best practice governance will support their sustainability,” she said.
“And the first part of our NDIS Success program will provide the tools and training needed to maximise marketplace opportunities,” Ms Arnott says.
Providers who successfully complete the program will become eligible to apply for an opportunity to receive six months of direct mentoring support from CBB’s consulting team. There are sixteen grants on offer.
Helping HCO
CBB has helped independent Not For Profit disability and community services provider HCO to develop action plans to address critical gaps, examine itself in different ways and reflect on things done well.
HCO CEO Sue Horsnell says the CBB team helped her and her staff understand their strengths and how to identify opportunities across its operations and service delivery.
“It was important to understand our sector offering and be clear on our values that enable success in a NDIS environment. In addition to a major rebrand, we have employed a number of key people with new skills that enhance our focus on quality and safeguarding.”
