Information and communications technology provider Ascom has launched a new device that allows aged care organisations to use their existing Wi-Fi networks.
The Ascom i63 is a voice-over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) enterprise-grade handset designed to provide secure on-site communications, advanced personal safety and locating features and seamless roaming.
The handset is available in three models – Talker, Messenger, and Protector – which are each Bluetooth 5-enabled to allow hands-free operations.
The Messenger and Protector models feature multiple indoor and outdoor location technologies and suited to low-cost, easy-to-install locating solutions.
The Protector model also features man-down and no-movement alarms, which automatically transmit alerts, should the handset drop suddenly or remain motionless, according to Ascom.
Ascom CEO Jeannine Pilloud said the device offered a dependable and cost-effective mobile solution.
“The new Ascom i63 is great news for organisations wanting to extract maximum value from their existing Wi-Fi networks.
“Moreover, the handset offers hassle-free device deployment and centralized management, and provides validated interoperability with all major Wi-Fi and PBX vendors” Ms Pilloud said.
