The Federal Government has launched Head to Health to help people find online resources on mental health

Head to Health, a new government website connects Australians with trusted digital and phone mental health resources.

The gateway was developed as a collaboration between the Department of Health, the mental health sector and people with a lived experience of mental health problems.

Head to Health provides links to:

  • free or low-cost apps
  • online support communities and forums
  • online courses
  • phone, email and chat services.

These online resources can complement or replace face-to-face services.

The Federal Minister for Mental Health Greg Hunt said evidence shows for many people, digital interventions can be as effective as face-to-face services.

“Head to Health provides a place where people can access support and information before they reach crisis,” Mr Hunt said.

“And it will continue to grow with additional services, a telephone support service to support website users, and further support for health professionals to meet the needs of their patients.”

He said the gateway was a valuable tool for both people seeking support and those looking to maintain their mental wellbeing.

People can search for information and resources on particular mental health conditions and support for different groups such as older people and carers.
