The National Disability Insurance Agency is hosting its second housing innovation showcase event next week in Melbourne exploring different housing and support models growing across Australia.

The event will feature stories from people with disability about how they made their housing choices, and presentations from not-for-profits, parent cooperatives, housing organisations and support providers.

There will also be a small trade show with exhibitions from the presenters and other housing providers.

Over 500 people attended the showcase event in Sydney in April, which heard from organisations such as the Summer Foundation, Youngcare and Achieve Australia. Transcripts from that event are available on the NDIS website.

The lack of appropriate housing for people with very high needs has been recognised in the design of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and allowance is made for additional funding for specialist disability accommodation, said the NDIA.

NDIS Housing Showcase will be held in Melbourne on 31 May, 10 am -4 pm. For more information and to register, click here.
